Figma is the leading design and prototyping platform for product and UX teams. After the acquisition by Adobe (which ultimately did not go through), Figma remained independent and has significantly increased its enterprise pricing. The tool is popular because of browser-based collaboration, but the licensing structure is complex and scales quickly in cost as teams grow.
Figma operates with editor seats (paid) and viewer seats (free or paid depending on the plan). In practice, viewer seats are often converted to editor seats without central control, resulting in unexpected invoices.

Actively manage editor seats
Figma makes it easy for users to upgrade themselves from viewer to editor. This often happens unconsciously. Enable central seat control and review monthly who has editor rights.
Negotiate at Organisation level
Figma's Organisation plan offers single sign-on, central control and better auditing options. Volume discounts are negotiable at this level — something Figma does not proactively communicate.
Watch out for annual increases
Figma has raised prices for existing customers over the past few years. Without active contract management, you automatically pay the new rates.
